The Population Insights application provides a comprehensive view of the socioeconomic landscape across communities. It brings together data from national sources to help GKFF stakeholders better understand demographic, economic, and social trends in Tulsa and peer regions across the U.S. down to a county/MSA level.
This application includes seven dashboards powered by twelve national data sources, each designed to highlight a distinct dimension of community well-being:
- Population Demographics: Profiles population composition, diversity, education, employment, income, and ownership to establish a baseline of community conditions.
- Economic Landscape: Examines local industries to understand relative contribution in terms of GDP, employment, and payroll to identify economic drivers, workforce, and growth trends.
- Workforce Profile: Highlights labor force participation across various population segments, wages, diversity, and employment distribution.
- Business Diversity: Tracks minority-, women-, and veteran-owned businesses (MWOB/ SDVOB) and their payroll and employment impact on local economies across industry sectors.
- Housing Market (Affordability): Analyzes home values, ownership rates, and affordability ratios to assess access to housing and ownership gaps.
- Mortgage Access: Follows the mortgage credit funnel (applications, approvals, interest rates, appraisals) and highlights disparities by income and demographic group.
- Public Health: Provides insight into social determinants of health, including food insecurity, obesity, insurance coverage, and environmental risks, along with trends in health conditions and outcomes across populations.
